A REVOLUTIONARY YEAR
This past year was another exciting time for Magic Mountain. For the park's 45th season, yet another classic was reborn. The classic Revolution closed in September for a lengthy renovation, and re-opened for it's 40th season of operation in April of 2016 with a refreshed theme, new lap bar only trains, and became North America's first fully integrated VR coaster. On the other side of the park, Full Throttle Nights had a very pumping year with three new shows for Summer, Fall, and Winter. Fright Fest came creeping with majorly improved renovations to some existing mazes, the return of The AFTERMATH maze, and new scare zones. In early September, JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle for Metropolis was announced to come for the 2017 season. And finally, we ended our year with the park's brightest holiday event of the year, Holiday in the Park, which expanded with a couple new attractions!

Let's begin our review of this revolutionary year!

THE NEW REVOLUTION
The New Revolution was the new 2016 attraction for Magic Mountain that opened early April. After the closing of the classic Revolution coaster, it was announced that it would be renovated with new lap bar only trains, a new theme, a new paint scheme. Later on in 2016, it was announced to be North America's first fully integrated Virtual Reality coaster. The ride is now a spectacular hit with waits more than 90+ mins.
We were fortunate enough to be invited to several construction tours as they prepared to open this marvelous coaster. Here's a glimpse of the construction & final product.

SIX FLAGS PLAZA
Along with Revolution's new "americana" theme, the main entrance plaza recieved a hefty renovation. Flags transformed into Six Flags Emporium, which got a interior and exterior makeover. Cyber Cafe turned into Plaza Cafe, eliminated all the laptops, and received a new menu. The popular Suzette's bakery recieved a minor renovation and is now the World Famous Funnel Cake Factory. Finally, the Grand Carousel got a major refurbishment with a new paintjob from top to bottom and is now called The Grand American Carousel. With the new refurbishment of the plaza, the area is once again more lively than ever before.
PYTHON PLUNGE - NEW WATERSLIDES
In 2016, we got an unexpected surprise from Hurricane Harbor. The debut of the new attraction and the remodel of existing features drew visitors hoping to beat the heat this summer. Python Plunge features two enclosed coiled slides and one enclosed moderate speed slide that empty out near the sprawling Lizard Lagoon.
FULL THROTTLE NIGHTS & KWERK
Full Throttle Nights energized 2016 with three exciting new shows for Summer, Fall & Winter. This year, we saw major improvements in band casting (Mad T Party came over), better music choices, and of course, the amazingly talented Full Throttle Dancers. Over on the other side, Kwerk came back for another year with new and improved acts. Since Unleashed didn't come back this year, the park had a new show for Holiday in the Park appropriately named, Kwerkmas. Kudos to the entertainment department at Magic Mountain for making both productions better and in high gear each year!
2016 has been the biggest year in Fright Fest history. AFTERMATH 2: Choas Rising was a brand new maze located in Déjà Vu's old location and it's the park's biggest maze, measuring at 40,000 sq ft. SUICIDE SQUAD, the worst heroes ever, made their debut at Fright Fest as a new and exclusive scare zone. With such film, it has opened new doors for the event and made Fright Fest stand out from the rest.
HOLIDAY IN THE PARK
Holiday in the Park returns brighter than ever with a spectacular line up of holiday thrills. With virtual reality now implemented on The New Revolution, the park introduced a new VR experience made exclusively for Holiday in The Park. Two new areas were introduced in 2016, which are Star Spangled Plaza (Revolution Plaza) and the park's biggest area, Gleampunk District. New in the Gearworks Theatre was Kwerkmas, a holiday version of the beloved Kwerk show. With all the new addtions, the park has improved on character interactions throughout each area, which has made the event experience even better.
JUSTICE LEAGUE coming in 2017
After months of speculation, JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle for Metropolis - Ride. Play. Triumph. was announced for the 2017 season. This addition is a 2nd generation of the popular dark ride now with 3 new scenes, pre-shows and a new villain, HARLEY QUINN! Located in the newly-themed Metropolis area of the park, JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle for Metropolis — Ride. Play. Triumph. will be part of an entire area remodel of surrounding attractions, food and retail locations as well as added entertainment.
The ride is slated for a SUMMER 2017 opening. CLICK HERE to learn more about this attraction.
Battle for Metropolis comes in perfect timing for the new JUSTICE LEAGUE movie coming out November 2017!
Aside from politics, 2016 has been an amazing year for the park. Magic Mountain definitely made its 45th season a strong one by implementing new technology into Revolution, going bigger and better for both Fright Fest & Holiday in the Park, and sprucing up their main entrance plaza. With all the recent additions these past few years, it has brought some fresh new life to the park, and it's great to see this sort of commitment to content being devoted to Six Flags' flagship park. As 2017 approaches, the park has exciting new adventures for all of us to enjoy and we most definitely can't wait to share it all with you, here on Planet SIX.
