Year in Review 2015 : Magic Mountain twists a classic
It's been quite an exciting year for Six Flags Magic Mountain. After a 36 reign, the classic Colossus wooden coaster closed down in 2014 for an exciting renovation. Twisted Colossus opened in May of 2015 with a newly themed area & show. On the other side of the park, Full Throttle Nights had a very pumping year with three new shows for Summer, Fall, and Winter. Fright Fest came creeping with TWO new scare zones. The 2016 attraction was announced in September, another classic ride being renovated. And we end our year with the park's brightest holiday event of the year, Holiday in the Park.
Congratulations to the park for receiving "Best Theme Park" by USA Today readers
It was a big year for Magic Mountain and there’s a lot to cover in this year’s review, so let’s get started!

Twisted Colossus is the new 2015 attraction for Magic Mountain that opened May 23rd! After the closing of the classic Colossus coaster, it was announced that it would be renovated into the World's Largest Hybrid Coaster.
We were fortunate to be invited to several construction tours as they prepared to open this marvelous coaster. Here's a glimpse of the construction & final product.

SCREAM PUNK DISTRICT - A NEW LAND
Joining Twisted Colossus is the new Screampunk District, a newly themed area.
In this themed area, you can find Scream! , Twisted Colossus , "Gearworks Theatre" , "Twisted Wiches" sandwich shop and a new outdoor retail shop. Screampunk District was to be the biggest re-themed area in the park. The theater got a huge face-lift on the exterior and housed the best show the park has produced in a very long time. Kwerk was a steampunk themed cirque show with aerialist, dancing, and various other stunts.
Kwerk -The Astounding Feats of Acrobatic Artistry
Along with Twisted Colossus comes a new show that debuted in the newly renovated Gearworks Theatre. Kwerk was an outstanding show with aerialists, choreography, and stuntmen. The stage was nicely decorated with steampunk-esque decor and beautiful lighting effects.
FULL THROTTLE NIGHTS - 3rd Season
Full Throttle Nights pumped 2015 with three brand new shows for Summer, Fall & Winter. This year was the biggest party yet, with a better band, better music & of course amazing choreography.
Thanks to DJ Nel & Ricky Rocks for an incredible year as always.
FRIGHT FEST - Best Theme Park Halloween Event of 2015
The biggest Fright Fest ever started in September & ended in early November. Sinister Circuit & TERRORtory Twisted were two new scare zones in the back half of the park located in DC Universe & Screampunk District. The park also had a new show named "Unleashed" which was a haunted circus themed version of Kwerk. Apocalypse received a maze overlay in its queue line before you board the coaster to promote the new Call of Duty game.
Congratulations to the park for winning "Best Theme Park Halloween Event for 2015"
HOLIDAY IN THE PARK - 2nd Season
The brightest event in the park's history just got brighter! Bringing back the same activities as last year, it has been flooded with even more lights! It's such a wonderful heart-warming event you don't want to miss.
Holiday in the Park ends Jan 3rd, 2016, so there is still time to enjoy!
Scream! received a well needed coat of paint during the construction of Twisted Colossus. It now sports blue track & orange supports. Road Runner Express got a repaint as well but remained the same colors.
Recently, Orient Express' trains got a light blue paint job and now looks fantastic.
THE NEW REVOLUTION - 40 YEARS OF THRILLS
On September 3rd, 2015, it was announced that the park's legendary looping coaster, the Revolution, would close for a renovation. To commemorate it's 40th year of operation, it would receive brand new trains with only lap bars, a new paint job, and a renovated station. The ride is expected to re-open in Spring of 2016!
2016 is here.
2016 will be an amazing year for the park as they prepare to celebrate their 45th season & the 40th anniversary of Revolution. Planet SIX is ready to GO BIGGER next year with more exciting adventures than ever before.
We hope you have a wonderful New Year's Eve & be safe!
Thanks for one outstanding year! -Planet SIX
